I like to draw. A lot :) Call it a compulsion. To that end I keep a sketchbook. All artists are familiar with the concept, but I've found it tends to be a personal sort of effort, and doesn't fit everyone's mindset. Artists will make their inspirational drawings on napkins or lined looseleaf, only to have the headaches of finding those bits of paper and trying to extract a picture from them. Sketchbooks have been a regular part of my life since senior high school and I'd be naked without one handy. Often it doesn't take more than a chance word or phrase to cause me to fall upon my sketchbook and begin pencilling furiously - just ask my friends. Since getting online I've only become more prolific and been filling book after book at a tremendous rate.
It has become apparent that I have far more sketches than I will ever turn into finished pieces, so I've decided to share them. A lot of people have commented over the years how much fun it is to watch a drawing come about, or to see the process that goes on behind a painting. I hope you enjoy this as well. These pages may lead you to believe that I only draw Disney characters. I draw everything and anything including the Disney Afternoon pantheon and things inspired by it, but I'm not willing to scan in every page of every sketchbook! :)P If you want a taste of my diversity, check out my paintings and sculptures. I just felt like theming this since so much of my site is Disney Afternoon related. The sketches included here range from the spring of '95 to the present and will vary broadly in detail and quality.
Please remember that these are sketches. They are rough and mostly unfinished. I tend to make corrections on the fly. Anatomy (such as it is for cartoon ducks) will frequently be a little off, or size relationships will need tweaking. Don't sweat it. :)
A final word - these are meant to stay rough. I might get around to inking and/or colouring some, but otherwise I expect them to stay the way they are. Please do not take them for your own use, or colour them as your own works. Feel free to distribute them to anyone else who might enjoy them, but only if it's not for profit, and credit for the art is applied back to me. Thanks.
